6.3.6 How to input/ modify characters
To be able to input or modify characters such as stationary battery data, bank name, alarm setting name, etc., carefully read the below methods. It will enable you to input characters quickly.
EX) How to modify the BANK NAME
1) Enter the set up mode, move the direction keys to move the cursor to the Battery Info menu, and then press the <ENT> button.
2) Move the cursor to the Bank Information menu then press the <ENT> button.
3) BANK LIST appears on the LCD screen.
4) Use the <▲ , ▼> buttons to select the bank to be modified, press <ENT>.
5) As shown in Figure_11), move the bank name to be modified with the cursor , then press the <ENT> button to enter the character input mode.

6) As shown in Figure_12), the character input bar will appear in the character input mode.
Press the <MENU> button to change the type of characters in an order of English, number, and special characters.

7) Suppose if the BANK NAME is entered as FACTORY_01. After selecting characters to be selected using the <◀, ▶> buttons, press the <ENT> button to input characters.
As the maximum number of character is limited as 10 characters, as shown in Figure_13), another T at the end of the letter FAC will not be reflected.
9) In such occasions, press the <Cal/del> key to eliminate the BANK_01 characters then enter the rest of the letter, TORY, using < ◀ , ▶ > and <ENT> buttons.

10) To input special character ‘ _ ’, press the <MENU> button to switch to the special character input mode then enter the character using < ◀ , ▶ > and <ENT> buttons.

11) To input the number 01, press the <MENU> button once again to switch to the number mode, then enter the character using < ◀, ▶ > and <ENT> buttons.

12) If you want to delete the number 0, use the <▲, ▼> buttons to locate the cursor on the character to be erased, then press the <Cal/del> button to delete.


7.1 Measurement mode
This mode is to determine the status of stationary batteries by measuring the impedance and voltage either in manual or automatic control.
1) If the <Power> key is turned on, it indicates that it is in the measuring mode as in Figure_ 17).
2) Connect the positive/negative (+/-) measurement cables to the terminals of its subject, or stationary battery. While the IBEX is calculating impedance and voltage values, it shows the calculation mode signs as in Figure_18).
3) When the calculation is internally completed, the measured values will be displayed on the LCD as in Figure_19).

This mode enables the input of a range of parameters for the IBEX setup or data storage while the device is still in operation, other than measuring mode.
Main menu consists of 6 menu icons and each menu icon has independent submenus
1) If you press the <MENU> button in the measuring mode, it will move on to the main menu screen of the setup mode.
2) To select a menu, use the < ◀ , ▶ > buttons to move to a desired menu icon then press the <ENT> button to select
3) When moving through the menu, descriptions on menu icons will be displayed in the bottom of the LCD screen.
4) The selected menu icon will be marked by a shadow effect.
5) To return to the measuring screen, select the Return menu and pres the <ENT> button or press the <MENU> button to directly go back to the measuring screen, even you are in sub-menu.

Utility Setup : Set up various impedance tester environments
Storage Select : Set up the selection of automatic/manual storage of stationary battery measuring values
Select Normal/Fine: Measuring precision (speed) setup
Alarm Setup : Set up alarm values of stationary battery measurement values
Batt Information : Input the stationary battery bank data or view data files Report : Confirm or transfer the measured values to a PC
Used for selecting hardware setup or temperature mode.
1) If you arrange various environment setup before measuring stationary battery, it facilitates the use of the device.
2) If you enter the UTILITY SETUP menu (Figure_21-1 or Figure_21-2), you will find 6 [org] 7[pro] sub icons. Whenever you select and move the icons using direction keys, a brief description of the icon will appear on the bottom.
3) Move a direction key to the icon to be selected. Press the ENTER button to enter the setup mode for each icon, which allows you to complete setup process easily.

1) BACKLIGHT SETUP ![]()
Used for setting up backlight time, which determines a span of time when BACKLIGHT is active after pressing the button.
1] After moving the cursor from the UTILITY SETUP to the BACKLIGHT SETUP ICON, then press the <ENT> button.
2] You can set the time ranging from 0 minute to 10 minutes.
3] To set the time, first use the <◀, ▶ > buttons to locate the arrow to the desired time (Figure_22).
4] After locating arrow on the time you want, press the button and the arrow will switch to an inverse image, indicating the time has been selected. (Figure_23)
5] When the time setting is completed, press the <ESC> button to move to the upper menu (UTILITYS ETUP) or press the <MENU> button to exit to the measuring mode.

| 2) CONTRAST SETUP |
Used for adjusting brightness of characters and icons displayed on the LCD screen
1] Use this function to adjust the brightness of LCD characters, if you do not feel conformable with the initial brightness setting, or want to save the battery capacity.
2] You can adjust in a range from 0 to 10.
3] The closer the number is to 0, the brighter the screen and the closer the number is to 10, the dimmer it gets.
4] When the brightness level rises, the required power for LCD will increase, thereby consuming battery. In contrast, a lower brightness setting will increase battery life.
5] To set up, first use the < ◀ , ▶ > buttons to move the arrow to the value to be adjusted, (Figure_24)
6] Place the arrow button in a position where you want to adjust and press <ENT> then it will be selected and switch the arrow to a inverse image.
7] When the time setting is completed, press the <ESC> key to move on to the upper menu (UTILITY SETUP) or press the <MENU> key to exit to the measuring mode.

| 3) TEMP. SELECT |
Used for changing temperature scale either Fahrenheit or Celsius.
1] When shipped from the factory, the initial setting for temperature scale is set to Celsius.
2] To measure the temperature in Fahrenheit, select Fahrenheit in the TEMP.SELECT.
3] To set up, first use the < ◀ , ▶ > buttons to move the arrow to the value to be changed, (Figure_25)
4] Place the arrow button in a position where you want to change and press <ENT> then it will be selected and switch the arrow to a inverse image.
5] When the temperature setting is completed, press the <ESC> key to move on to the upper menu (UTILITY SETUP) or press the <MENU> key to exit to the measuring mode.

| 4) AUTO POWER SAVE |
Used for saving the battery consumption by turning off the power when the device is not used for a certain period of time.
1] When the device is stored or left with the power on, the battery will be discharged due to continuous power loss typical to testers
2] To prevent the discharge, you can set up time to automatically be turned off the device when it is not used for a certain period.
3] When there is no measurement activities or key inputs, the device’s power will automatically be shut off after a certain time in accordance with the POWER SAVE time setting
4] To set up, first use the < ◀ , ▶ > buttons to move the arrow to the time to be changed, (Figure_26)
5] Place the arrow button on a desired time and press <ENT> then it will be selected and switch the arrow to a inverse image.
6] When the time setting is completed, press the <ESC> key to move on to the upper menu (UTILITY SETUP) or press the <MENU> key to exit to the measuring mode.

| 5) BUZZER ON/OFF | ![]() |
Used for turning on or off buzzers such as button-pressing-sound, alarm, etc.
1] Buzzer will go off in the following cases: – When button is pressed – When the power is being turned on – When the cell measurement is completed in the stationary battery automatic measurement mode – When reset is completed – When a transmission from/to BANK data PC is completed
2] Whenever the above occasions happen, the buzzer will go off, so you can use this function when you want to turn off the sound in a quiet environment
3] To set up, first use the < ◀ , ▶ > buttons to move the arrow to the icon to be set .(Figure_27)
4] Place the arrow button on a desired icon and press <ENT> then it will be selected and switch the arrow to a inverse image. Then a speaker-form icon on the upper status icon bar will be on or off(disappearance of the icon)
5] When on/off setting is completed, press the <ESC> key to move on to the upper menu (UTILITY SETUP) or press the <MENU> key to exit to the measuring mode.

| 6) PARAMETER RESET |
Used for initializing all parameters and setup values to factory defaults. (Software reset).
1] While using the IBEX, you can initialize (software reset) in the following occasions. – A setup value is randomly changed and the default value is unknown – When the user wants to initialize the setup values – Others, when the initialization of this tester is required.
2] After initializing, it is necessary to do the setting according to the measurement cell. Thus it is necessary to be careful carrying out the initialization.
3] To initialize, first use the < ◀ , ▶ > buttons to select the icon.
4] When you press the <ENT> button you will see a sentence saying [SURE TO INITIALIZE ?] and [YES : ENTER , NO : ESC]. (Figure_28)
5] If you press the <ENT> button, [RESET SEQUENCE / PLASE WAIT] will be displayed and three LEDs will be turned on simultaneously. When the reset is completed, it will move on to the measurement screen with a brief beep sound, (Figure_29)
6] Press the <ESC> button to exit from the reset menu and move on to the measurement screen.

| 7) DATE & TIME SET [Pro] |
DATA &TIME SET function is only applicable to the IBEX Pro. Used for setting up current date and time.
1] When data is printed with a thermal printer, the printing date and time are printed according to the setting time.
2] When current date and time are not accurate, set up the current time
3] To set up, first use the <◀, ▶ > buttons to select the icon and press the <ENT> button.
4] Use the <◀, ▶ > buttons to locate an arrow icon (▼) on the part to be modified.
5] Use the <▲, ▼ > button to modify date and time. Press the <ENT> button, to set the current time and press the <ESC> key to move on to the upper menu or press the <MENU> key to exit to the measuring mode.
6] If you do not press the <ENT> button and press the <ESC> key or <MENU> key, it will exit to the upper menu or measuring menu without setting the current time.
