The Battery 102 course is an advanced two-day training designed for professionals to gain hands-on experience in battery maintenance, testing, and safety with the “Battery 102” course, designed to enhance reliability and performance in real-world applications.
Subjects Covered:
Day 1
Batteries & Compliance
Covering battery basics, NERC and IEEE standards, plus compliance feedback on application, sizing, accessory selection, and AC ripple.
Installation
Focus on pre-install battery inspection, proper storage, installation with isolation procedures, and compatible chargers.
Establishing a Battery Maintenance Plan
Routine inspections, testing protocols, record-keeping, and preventative strategies to ensure long-term reliability and compliance.
Day 2
Safety & Regulatory Requirements
Briefing for battery lab training, covering key hazards, PPE essentials, safe handling protocols, and compliance with IEEE, OSHA, and NFPA standards.
Hands On Lab Training
- Visual Inspection
- Battery Charging
- Jumping-Out Cells
- Locating a Ground Fault
Scenario Tests
Group work to address a simulated “situation,” formulate a corrective action plan, and present it to the group.
